SMS coming to Teams Phone in early 2023
One of the breakout sessions was a Q&A on Teams phone and one of the questions was SMS. This is currently being worked on and it is coming in early 2023. I would guess preview first and GA to follow.
A few other Teams Phone items:
2023 will be a big push for Call Ques and Auto Attendant functions and improvements.
The newest Teams Phone client had a big update to speed and responsiveness
Combined Teams mobile and desk number coming to T-Mobile and Verizon in early 23, more to follow later
There is a demo of this in action on the Teams Phone session

When I didn’t see any announcements regarding SMS after Ignite, I was starting to lose hope. It will be a marvelous day when I can stop giving my personal number for business texts!

Yes, Teams Phone is the phone service you pay for separately. It is a phone license and then service you choose that allows you to move your phone system to Teams. PSTN calls.

Anyone know what this means on the “What’s New?” section of the Teams beta in the Play Store: “Have a single phone number for your Mobile Phone and Teams”, maybe related?
