WhatsApp has been on a roll getting a host of new features in the past year or so. The chat app has evolved with features like screen sharing, HD photo sharing to AI-generated stickers and more.

However, a common annoyance has been the inability to message someone without saving their number. This is particularly troublesome when wanting to message someone for a temporary purpose, or perhaps in just a hurry. But there are a few workarounds. Read on.

How to send WhatsApp messages to unsaved numbers
Here are a few quick and easy wasy to message yourself on WhatsApp.

1. Send unsaved numbers to yourself on WhatsApp
In this method, all you have to do is copy the mobile number of the person you’d like to send a message and send the same to yourself on WhatsApp. Now, tap on the number in the chatbox. If the number is registered on WhatsApp, a pop-up that says “Chat with xx” should appear. Simply tap on it and a chat window with them will open.

2. Use a browser to create a chat link
In case you’re not able to access the message yourself feature on WhatsApp, try this. Copy the following link first – https://wa.me/phone-number. Now, open your preferred web browser on your smartphone, and paste the above link in the URL bar.

Next, copy the number to which you want to send a message, and in place of where it says “phone-number” in the aforementioned link, enter the country code (91 in India’s case). Once done, key in the rest of the phone number and hit enter. You should be redirected to WhatsApp web, to a chat window with the number you’d like to send a message to.

3. Use Truecaller’s WhatsApp message feature
Truecaller has a rather nifty feature in-built that allows users to send messages to numbers they haven’t saved as yet. For the same, open Truecaller on your smartphone and locate the number you’d like to send a message to.

Once found, tap on it and scroll down to find an option that simply says “WhatsApp.” A chat window with the same will appear, and you can now send messages on it quickly and easily.

4. Tap on participants’ names on a WhatsApp group chat
Say there is a WhatsApp group you’ve created but may not necessarily have everyone’s numbers saved on it. In this case, to send messages to any such numbers, all you have to do is tap on their username in the chat window and hit the first out of three options which will appear under their profile picture as a pop-up. This will open a chat window with the other person, and you can talk to them.

These quick and easy methods can be used on both, Android and iOS devices, and you can save yourself the hassle of having to save numbers, to send WhatsApp messages on them each time.
